Mackenzie Selected for Savane College Golf Classic

Seattle - Washington sophomore men's golfer Brock Mackenzie has been selected to compete in the 27th Annual Savane College All-America Golf Classic. The 25-player event will be held Nov. 19-20 at the El Paso Country Club. The tournament is hosted by the Sun Bowl Association. Play includes 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

Throughout the years, many Savane Golf Classic competitors have gone on to pursue successful careers in the Professional Golfers, Association of America and on the PGA Tour.

Some of the past champions of the Savane Golf Classic include Notah Begay (1994), David Duval (1991), Davis Love III (1984), Jerry Pate (1974) and Tiger Woods (1995).

The Golf Classic has featured 16 U.S. Amateur Champions.

Each university is awarded a $1,000-scholarship if a golfer competes in the tournament.

Ricky Barnes (Arizona, Jr.) is a second team All-American ... is defending Savane Golf Classic Champion ... set Golf Classic record with his 54-hole total of 196 ... won the Pacific-10 Conference individual championship ... tied for eighth at the NCAA Championship.

Bill Haas (Wake Forest, Soph.) is an honorable mention All-American ... was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year ... selected to the All-ACC Team ... was runner-up at the 2001 Augusta State Invitational ... placed third at the 2001 Southern Amateur.

Jason Hartwick (Texas, Soph.) is an honorable mention All-American ... received Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and Big 12 All-Conference Team honors ... had six top-10 finishes ... claimed titles at the Sahalee Players Championship and Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur.

Franklin Hatchett (Southern Methodist, Sr.) is an honorable mention All-American ... is back-to-back champion of the SMU Stonebridge Classic ... tied for fifth at the Western Athletic Conference Championships ... earned first team All-WAC honors.
