Washington Women Picked Third in Pac-10 Media Preseason Poll

SAN JOSE, Calif. - After finishing last season with a 22-10 record and a share of the Pac-10 title, the Washington women's basketball team was picked today to finish third in the conference, according to a poll of media members.
The Huskies return three of their five starters from last year, along with eight letterwinners. Also joining the squad will be five talented newcomers from the state of Washington.
Stanford, which finished the 2000-01 season with a 19-11 record, was tabbed to win the 2002 Pac-10 title. The Cardinal earned 19 first-place votes, while Arizona State, picked to finish second, garnered two first-place nods. This is the second year in a row that Stanford has been the preseason favorite in the media poll.
Washington begins exhibition play at home against NWBL on Sun., Nov 4 at 3:00 p.m. The Huskies start regular season action on Fri., Nov. 16, when they take to the road to face Montana State in non-conference play.
