Arizona State evened the match in the 38th minute from two local products. In a scrambled in front of the goal, freshman Marlina Fletcher (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos de Niza) took a pass from Stacey Tullock (Phoenix, Ariz./Thunderbird) from about 5-yards out and kicked it pass California goalkeeper Mallory Moser. The goal was also Fletcher's first in her caeer.
