Husky Golfers Third at The Prestige at Palm Desert

Palm Desert, CA - -- The Washington men's golf team turned in a first-round score of 280 to finish in third place at The Prestige at Palm Desert. The Huskies trail tournament leaders Kansas and host UC Davis by just two strokes. Colorado is fourth at 281 and Texas Christian is fifth at 282.
Washington was led by sophomore Brock Mackenzie, who shot 68 to tie for fifth place. His scored equaled his best round as a collegiate. Mackenzie is four shots behind Kansas' Travis Hurst, who turned in an 8-under score of 64. North Carolina's Dustin Bray is second at 65, San Diego's David Isaacson and UC Davis' Jason Boyd are tied for third at 67.
Only 18 of the scheduled 36 holes were completed during Monday's play. Darkness suspended the tournament's second round. It will be completed Tuesday followed by the final 18 holes of play.
Three other Husky golfers, in addition to Mackenzie, recorded under-par rounds on Monday. John Robertson is 12th overall at 70 while Conner Robbins and Joe Ramos, a Palm Spring native, both shot 71. Senior Gordy Scutt is 81st after carding a 77.
