Sophomore Midfielder Lindsey Beem Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week
Nov. 6, 2001
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State University's Lindsey Beem was named Pac-10 Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 30 - Nov. 5, announced Commissioner Tom Hansen on Tuesday.
Beem, a sophomore from Vancouver, WA, scored four goals on 11 shots in Oregon State's victories against Sacramento State and rival Oregon last week. Beem scored a goal in OSU's 2-1 win against the Hornets on Nov. 1 and then followed that performance by recording a hat trick in the 4-1 Civil War victory on Nov. 4. The hat trick was the Beavers' first since the 1999 campaign, and the victory against UO was the first since joining the Pac-10 in 1996.
Beem, a midfielder, has six goals and five assists on the season, ranking second on the squad with 17 points. Her 24 shots on goal are the most by an Oregon State player this season.
The Pac-10 Player of the Week honor is the first of Beem's career and Oregon State's second women's soccer Player of the Week award winner of all-time.
OSU's 10 wins this season are the most in head coach Steve Fennah's four years at the helm and the squad's two Pac-10 victories are the most since the 1995 campaign.
Oregon State (10-7-1 overall, 2-5-0 Pac-10) concludes the regular season this weekend in Washington. The Beavers face Washington State on Friday at 2 p.m. followed by Sunday's 11 a.m. contest against the Huskies of University of Washington.
