SEATTLE, Wash. - -
The Oregon State men's crew wrapped up its fall schedule with a third-place finish at the University of Washington's Head of the Lake Regatta on Saturday morning, finishing in a time of 15:55.56.
The varsity eight finished 10 seconds off the pace of second-place Stanford and 40 seconds back of one of the nation's fastest boats in Washington. OSU did outpace Gonzaga by over nine seconds, as well as Victoria, Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran, and Washington State.
In the junior varsity eight race, OSU took third as well with a time of 16:23.53, well behind the Washington 'A' boat's time of 15:32.56, and eight seconds back of the UW 'B' boat's mark of 16:05.52.
'We weren't very satisfied with our racing today, though it was a little better than last weekend,' eighth-year OSU coach Dave Reischman said. 'We are not at the level we think we should be at right now - we've got a lot of mileage to cover between now and the spring season. We've got a lot of young rowers to develop.'
OSU doesn't compete again until April 6, when the Beavs head to San Diego for the annual San Diego Crew Classic.
