Women's Volleyball falls to No. 3 Stanford

STANFORD, CA - The eleventh-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team fell to No. 3 Stanford in three games on Friday night at Maples Pavilion. Game scores were 30-23, 30-23, 30-18. Junior outside hitter Lauren Fendrick led the Bruins offensively on the evening, with 17 kills, and double-doubled with 10 digs. UCLA falls to 14-7 (9-5 Pac-10) with the loss, while the Cardinal improves to 22-2 (13-1 Pac-10).
The Cardinal hit .450 as a team for the evening, including a .563 clip in game three, and out-blocked the Bruins by a 10-7 margin.
Two Bruins had double-figure kills in the match led by Fendrick with 17 kills and 10 digs. Junior middle blocker Angela Eckmier finished with 10 kills and two block assists. Senior setter Erika Selsor was the only other Bruins with double-figure digs, leading the team with 11.
The Bruins will remain in the Bay Area through the weekend, and will play a match on Sunday at St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. That match is scheduled for a 2 pm first serve.
