Jonathan Smith Named this week's Pac-10 Offensive Football Player of the Week

Walnut Creek, Cal. - Quarterback Jonathan Smith of Oregon State and safety Tank Williams and kicker Mike Biselli, both of Stanford, have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.

Smith, a senior from Glendora, Calif., directed Oregon State to a 49-24 upset win against No. 8-ranked Washington. Smith completed 18 of 28 passes (.643) for 317 yards, with no interceptions and two touchdowns of 45 and 16 yards. The Beaver offense piled up 30 first downs and 497 yards total offense and converted 10-of-15 3rd-down conversion attempts.

Williams, a senior from Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Biselli, a senior from Sparks, Nev., played key roles in Stanford's 51-37 win at Arizona. Williams was involved in two fumble plays that resulted in Cardinal touchdowns. He returned one fumble recovery 25 yards for a touchdown and forced a second fumble that a teammate returned 89 yards for a score. In addition, Williams had an interception, a pass deflection a quarterback sack and three tackles. The Stanford defense forced six Arizona fumbles, recovering four and returning two for touchdowns.

Biselli was perfect on three field goal attempts from 29, 44 and 21 yards and was six-for-six on PAT attempts to account for 15 points. In addition, seven of his 10 kickoffs went for touchbacks.

Also nominated for offensive player of the week honors were running backs Maurice Morris of Oregon, Delvon Flowers of Arizona State and Clarence Farmer of Arizona and receivers Jerome Riley of Washington State and Teyo Johnson of Stanford. Also nominated on defense were backs Dennis Weathersby of Oregon State and Troy Polamalu of USC and linebacker Raonall Smith of Washington State. Kickers David Davis of USC and Sean Keel of Arizona and punter Alan Cox of Washington State were nominated for special teams play.
