Stanford To Host First and Second Round Of Women's College Cup

Stanford, Calif. - The first 64-team field, which will compete for the Division I Women's College Cup, was announced today by the NCAA Soccer Committee. Stanford (13-3-2), the fifth seed in the tournament, was selected to host the first and second rounds with California (12-6-2), Denver (16-2-2) and Saint Mary's (14-2-2) all making the trip to The Farm.
California will face Saint Mary's on Friday, Nov. 16, followed by Stanford's matchup with Denver. Match times have yet to be announced, with the winners playing on Sunday, Nov. 18 in the second-round match. All games will be played on Maloney Field.
The University of North Carolina enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed, followed by No. 2 Santa Clara, No. 3 UCLA and No. 4 Portland. Rounding out the top eight seeds are Florida, Notre Dame and Connecticut.
The Big East Conference leads all conferences with eight teams in the tournament. Seven teams will represent the ACC and five each were named from the Pac-10, SEC and the WCC.
Third-round games will be played on campus sites November 23, 24 or 25 as will quarterfinal matches on November 30, December 1 or 2. The 20th annual NCAA Division I Women's College Cup will be played December 7 and 9 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Tickets will be sold in advance for the first and second rounds through the Stanford Ticket Office (1-800-STANFORD) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket prices are as follows:
