Nov. 13, 2001
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Pacific-10 Conference women's soccer coaches selected University of Oregon senior Chalise Baysa (Oak Harbor, Wash.) to the All-Pac-10 Second Team.
Also, Oregon junior goalkeeper Sarah Peters (Woodinville, Wash.) garnered All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors.
The award caps off a stellar career for Baysa, a four-year letterwinner for the Ducks who finished with a single-season school record 20 points this year (eight goals, four assists). Her efforts also helped Oregon to its best season (8-8-2) since it added soccer in 1996.
Baysa, a forward/midfielder, also earned All-Pac-10 Second Team honors following her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Peters was second in the Pac-10 in saves per game with 5.6 and seventh with three shutouts. She set a school-record last Friday in Oregon's 1-1 tie against No. 13 Washington with 15 saves.
Pac-10 coaches also picked Washington's Hope Solo as its Player of the Year and Stanford's Andy Nelson as Coach of the Year. The Freshman of the Year award went to Megan Kakadelas of USC.
Baysa is the all-time Oregon leader in career points (69) and goals (31).
