Wrestling Snags Victory from San Francisco State, 18-13

San Francisco, CALIF. - Stanford (1-2) claimed its first victory of the 2001-02 season as the Cardinal fell San Francisco State (0-1) tonight in the Gators home opener.
The meet stayed close the entire night and was decided in the final bout. Freshman Matt Gentry (Grants Pass, OR/North Valley) earned a 3-1 decision over Gilbert Martinez to take the match. Junior Justin Walker (Otis Orchards, WA/East Valley), the Cardinal's win-leader in 2000-01, grabbed his second victory of the year and junior Brad Selby (Paradise Valley, AZ/Saguaro), who placed fifth in the Pac-10 last year, earned his first win of the year with a 3-1 decision.
The Cardinal will be in action this Saturday, November 17 at the Cal Open in Fullerton, Calif. Stanford will also compete at the Las Vegas Invitational in Primm, Nevada on November 30 and December 1.
