Men's Hoops Takes On Portland State Tuesday

SUN DEVILS HOST PORTLAND STATE IN SECOND GAME OF YEAR
DEVILS GOING FOR TWO STRAIGHT: The Arizona State men's basketball team (1-0), under fourth-year head coach Rob Evans, will try to go 2-0 for the first time since 1997-98 when it takes on Portland State at 7 p.m. Tuesday. ASU won its season opener 92-61 against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday as 10 Sun Devils saw at least 10 minutes of playing time and five players posted double digits in scoring. Chad Prewitt posted his third 20-point game of his career with 21 points in 23 minutes. ASU held SFA to just 15-of-50 (.300) from the field in the win and was 30-of-37 (.811) from the free throw line. Newcomer Curtis Millage posted 16 points in his Sun Devil debut. ASU shot .569 from the field (29-of-51).
VS. PORTLAND STATE: ASU is 3-0 against Big Sky member Portland State, last beating the Vikings 79-57 in the season opener on Nov. 20, 1999. Rob Evans is 2-0 against the Vikings, as his Ole Miss squad also beat PSU 56-54 on Nov. 23, 1996, in the season opener that season. Portland State is coached by former Arizona State assistant Joel Sobotka, who is also a 1993 Sun Devil graduate.
AT THE LINE: Junior Shawn Redhage has established himself as one of the best free throw shooters in ASU history 62 games into his career.
