Nov. 19, 2001

TUCSON, Ariz.- Despite having its 11 match winning streak snapped over the weekend, the Arizona volleyball team held its no. 4 ranking in the latest edition of the AVCA/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Wildcats, who recently completed the Pac-10 portion of their season, are 19-4 overall and finished 14-4 in the Pac-10.

Long Beach State remains the team to beat. Brandishing a perfect 23-0 record, the 49ers have held the top spot for the majority of the season. Defending national champions Nebraska and Stanford, who beat the Wildcats on Saturday, remain in the second and third slots, respectively. Pac-10 foe USC rounds out the top five.

Arizona has two matches remaining prior to the postseason NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will play host the Denver, San Diego State and UC Santa Barbara this weekend in the semi-annual Four Points University Plaza Thanksgiving Tournament. Arizona will play Denver on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and then either UCSB or SDSU on Saturday.
