Benn Leads List of Huskies on Pac-10 Academic Team

Seattle - Washington center Kyle Benn leads a list of five Washington football players who were named to the Pac-10 Conference's All-Academic team today.
Benn is a three-year starter at Washington who owns a 3.24 GPA as a business major. He was also named to the CoSIDA Region VIII Academic All-America team on Tuesday. He is one of four offensive player to repeat as a Pac-10 All-Academic selection.
Washington inside linebacker Ben Mahdavi was a second-team selection at linebacker. He owns a 3.10 GPA as a communications major. Sophomore safety Jimmy Newell, who was forced out of the lineup at mid-season due to a shoulder injury, was also a second-team pick. Newell has a 3.26 GPA as a business major.
Husky junior wide receiver Wilbur Hooks and senior placekicker Jim Skurski were honorable mention selections.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
