Ducks Outline Plan for Purchase of Bowl Tickets
Nov. 20, 2001
EUGENE - Information pertaining to the purchase of tickets for the University of Oregon's participation in the Fiesta Bowl or Rose Bowl will be mailed to all of the school's football season ticket holders and Duck Athletic Fund contributors this week, with the deadline for return of all orders set for Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Because Bowl Championship Series invitations are not officially extended until Sunday, Dec. 9, information mailed to eligible Oregon bowl ticket purchasers will include options to buy tickets for whichever of the two New Year's post-season games the Ducks are invited to. Priority for purchase will be given to Oregon football season ticket holders who annually donate a minimum of $200 to the DAF, Oregon football lettermen and members of the university's Order of the O letterwinner's club.
Tickets for the Rose Bowl presented by AT&T, played Thursday, Jan. 3, in Pasadena, Calif., cost $150 each, plus $10 per-order handling fee, while the Jan. 1 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, Ariz., will cost $75 per ticket, plus the $10 handling fee.
Tickets will be available only for whichever bowl game that Oregon is invited.
Only 15,000 tickets to the Fiesta Bowl will be made available to the University of Oregon ticket holders, with qualified buyers allowed to purchase either two or four tickets depending on their level of DAF contribution. In addition, 250 tickets will be made available for purchase by University of Oregon students at the same price, with further details outlined at a later date.
All Oregon season ticket holders and/or DAF donors who do not meet the stated priority levels will be entered into a lottery for any tickets remaining, with a limit of two tickets per winner. Lottery winners will be posted on the Ducks' official website, www.goducks.com, on Monday, Dec. 12, and in the Eugene Register-Guard.
All orders must by accompanied by a valid VISA or MasterCard number and returned to the university's Casanova Center Athletic Ticket Office via mail or in person by Dec. 5. No phone or FAX orders will be accepted.
The university's alumni association will begin accepting reservations for the 2002 official University of Oregon Alumni Tour at 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, by calling (541) 346-UofO (8636). Pre-registration forms for the four-night packages, which will depart from Eugene and Portland Dec. 29 and return Jan. 2, are also available by accessing alumni.uoregon.edu.
