Volleyball Falls To No. 5 USC
Nov. 20, 2001
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Katie Olsovsky hit .786 with a match-high 11 kills and no errors to lead the No. 5 Southern California volleyball team to a three-game sweep over Oregon State on Tuesday. Game scores were 30-21, 30-9 and 30-10.
Lori Daedelow led OSU (17-10, 10-8) with six kills and eight digs on a night when the Beavers took advantage of an opportunity to give several players some playing time.
Fourteen Beavers saw action in at least one game, and coach Nancy Somera said that will be beneficial in the future.
'USC played extremely well tonight, and they showed why they are the No. 5 team in the nation,' Somera said. 'We needed to rest some players tonight, and that gave some other players some well-deserved playing time. Tonight's result will make us more competitive in the tournament.'
OSU hit -.063, with 23 kills and 30 errors, for the match. USC (21-3, 15-2) hit .388 with 42 kills and just nine errors.
The Women of Troy dominated defensively as well, with 13 blocks and 43 digs. OSU finished the match with three blocks and 29 digs.
