14 Cougs Picked to Academic Team

PULLMAN, Wash. -- - Five members of Washington State University's 2001 football team were named Tuesday to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic team and five additional Cougars received second team honors, according to Tom Hansen, Pac-10 commissioner.
The list of Cougars is headed by three-time honoree Serign Marong, a linebacker from Pullman. Selected for the second straight year to the first team were receiver Collin Henderson (Puyallup), offensive lineman Brian Hollenberg (Kennewick) and defensive lineman Jeremey Williams (Spokane). Punter Alan Cox (Manti, Utah) was selected for the first time.
Named to the all-conference second team unit were tight end Mak Baldwin (Brandon, Miss.), offensive lineman Alex Johnson (Yakima), defensive end Tupo Tuupo (Menlo Park, Calif.), defensive back Cole Sheridan (Pullman) and place kicker Drew Dunning (Issaquah).
Four other Cougars received honorable mention recognition, quarterback Jason Gesser (Honolulu, Hawaii), linebacker Mike Isaacson (Wenatchee), offensive lineman Billy Knotts (Vancouver) and defensive back Karl Paymah (Culver City, Calif.).
