PULLMAN, Wash. -- LaQue Branch, a middle hitter from Eisenhower High of Yakima, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball next fall at Washington State University, Cougar coach Cindy Fredrick announced Wednesday.
LaQue (lah-qway) Branch is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and a three-sport letterwinner for the Eisenhower Cadets, playing volleyball, track and basketball.
Eisenhower's volleyball team, under coach Lynn Roberson, finished sixth at the state 4A tournament this fall and eighth two years ago. Branch earned first team All-Big Nine honors the past three years.
She was also a member of Team Yakima, the club volleyball team coached by Kari St. Martin, which finished 11th at the 2001 Davis Festival.
'LaQue is another Washington player and we like to keep the quality athletes from the state of Washington at Washington State University,' Fredrick said. 'We have heard nothing but positive things about LaQue from her club coach, Kari, and her high school coach as well as Sarah Silvernail having worked with her last year. We feel real good about her athletic ability as well as her coach-ability and what she can bring to our program.'
Branch joins incoming freshmen Jen Barcus, Kristen Carlson, and Brenn Larson, who signed with the Cougars earlier this week.
