McHardy, Three Other Men's Soccer Players Tabbed For Academic All-Pac-10 Teams
Four Oregon State men's soccer players earned Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic recognition, as announced Wednesday by conference commissioner Tom Hansen. Aaron McHardy, Peter Billmeyer, Nick Jensen, and Kurt Ness were all honored.
McHardy, a junior midfielder/forward, led the way with his first-team selection. The Vancouver, B.C., native tied for the Pac-10 lead in goals scored with 10, while he was second in the regular season points race with 23. The Business major sports a 3.71 grade point average and was also a second-team all-region selection this year. McHardy was a second-team Pac-10 all-academic selection as a sophomore last season.
Earning second-team honors were Billmeyer, a sophomore goalkeeper, and Jensen, a senior midfielder.
Billmeyer, who carries a 3.13 GPA, saved a team record 97 shots this year while playing every minute in goal for the Beavers. The Business major also earned honorable mention all-conference for his play this year. This is the Omaha, Neb., native's first academic recognition at OSU.
For Jensen, this is his second academic all-conference nod, having earned honorable mention after last season. A native of Corvallis, the Business major carries a 3.11 GPA and played in 16 of OSU's 17 games this season.
Sophomore Kurt Ness earned honorable mention for his efforts in 2001. The Redmond, Wash., native starts in OSU's backfield and also earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 for his play this season.
To be considered for selection, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be either a starter or significant contributor.
