Koetter Accepts Invitation To Coach In Annual Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic
Dec. 3, 2001
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State University head football coach Dirk Koetter has been invited to coach in the 64th annual Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic on Christmas Day, December 25, 2001 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Koetter, who will serve as the Offensive Head Coach of the North squad, was invited to participate in the game last week by game organizers Bill Dooley (recruiting Director) and Charlie Jones (Executive Director).
Because of his acceptance to coach in the contest, Koetter will be allowed to bring Sun Devil Assistant Head Coach Tom Osborne to assist the North. Joining Koetter on the North squad will be Sun Devil seniors Delvon Flowers (tailback), Marquise Muldrow (offensive guard), Tommie Townsend (defensive tackle) and Donnie O'Neal (wide receiver).
Koetter's Defensive Head Coach for the North squad will be Les Miles, the current head coach at Oklahoma State University. One coach for the South squad has been announced, Al Groh of the University of Virginia.
The Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic will be shown to a national television audience on ABC at 11 a.m. CT (10 a.m. MT). The game is the nation's only college football All-Star game that is shown on national network television.
The week that Koetter will spend in Montgomery, Alabama for the game will fall during the NCAA recruiting 'dead period' when coaches are not allowed to contact recruits.
