Former Sun Devil Priscilla Hein Named USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Former Arizona State distance runner Priscilla Hein has been named the USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week after winning the women's title at the USA Fall Cross Country Nationals in Battleship Park in Mobile, Ala., Saturday.
Hein won the 6,000m race in 20:21.19, crossing the finish line ahead of runner-up and 2001 U.S. World Cross Country team member Collette Liss. The duo led the Indiana Invaders women's team to its first-ever national team title.
Earlier this year, Hein won the Mayor's Cup Cross Country title in Boston and placed 10th in the 4,000m competition at the 2001 USA Cross Country Championships. At the GMC Envoy USA Outdoor Championships, she finished 11th in the 1500m race (4:23.52).
Hein, who competed at ASU from 1996-99, still holds the Sun Devil record in the women's outdoor 1500m (4:17.98, 1999). She also ranks seventh all-time in the outdoor 800m (2:07.78, 1999), seventh in the outdoor 3000m (9:31.80, 1999) and third in the indoor mile (4:45.27, 1999).
She became the first ASU woman to earn cross country All-America honors with a 39th-place finish at the 1998 NCAA Championships.
