Men's Soccer Athletes Lee Morrison and Roger Levesque Earn All-America Honors

Dec. 7, 2001

MISSION, KAN - Stanford senior Lee Morrison (Carmichael, Calif.) and junior Roger Levesque (Portland, Maine) were both selected to National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA)/adidas All-America teams. Morrison was named to the first team, while Levesque was selected to the second team.

Morrison, a Second Team All-American selection in 2000, was named a First Team All Pac-10 selection this season after his strong defensive performance for the Cardinal. He has started all 20 matches thus far for the Cardinal and 86 consecutive during his four-year career , tying the all-time school mark. Morrison, a candidate for the 2001 Hermann Trophy and Missouri Athletic Club Award, has scored three goals on the year and tallied one assist for a total of seven points and has taken 14 shots on goal. He has helped anchor a backline that has held opponents to just ten goals on the season, an overall 0.49 goals against average and 11 shutouts.

Levesque, the 2001 Pac-10 Player of the Year, was selected to the Second Team after his breakthrough offensive campaign. He leads the Cardinal and Pac-10 in the following categories: goals scored (12), points (33), assists (9), and game-winning goals (3)- all career highs. He was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week and Soccer America Team of the Week for matches played during Sept. 24- Oct. 1 after his hat-trick against Dartmouth. Levesque, a junior forward, has tallied at least one goal and one assist on three different occasions for Stanford this year.

The Cardinal (18-1-1) will host Saint Louis (18-1-0) this evening in an NCAA Men's Tournament Quarterfinal Round contest at Maloney Field at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the College Cup, scheduled for Dec. 14-16.
