Wrestling Nabs Recruit in Early Signing Period
Dec. 7, 2001
Stanford, Calif. --- The Stanford Wrestling program announced its signing of Ian Bork a 6'4', 235 lb. heavyweight from Lawrence, Kansas. Bork is the only early signee for Stanford and will be an excellent and important addition to the Stanford roster.
At Free State high school, he is a state runner-up who tallied 29 wins as a junior, with an impressive 27 of those victories coming by pins. He has amassed 87 victories in the first three years of his high school career, and is currently ranked 14th nationally in his weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine.
Bork is a four-time Greco-Roman state champion, and a four-time freestyle state champion. In 2000, he was a Greco-Roman Cadet All-American, and in 2001, he was a Greco-Roman Junior All-American.
Head coach Steve Buddie looks forward to the addition of Bork and comments, 'He is a gifted student-athlete who will add a great deal to our program. Ian is that always hard to find athletic heavyweight who will provide Stanford fans years of great performances.'
