Logan Tom Nominated For 2001-02 Volleyball Honda Award

Stanford, Calif. - Junior outside hitter Logan Tom is one of four candidates in volleyball for the 2001-02 Honda Sports Award to determine the top woman collegiate athlete in that sport. The winner for volleyball will become a nominee for the Honda-Broderick Cup, which is awarded annually to the nation's outstanding Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
Tom joins Dana Burkholder (Arizona), Nancy Metcalf (Nebraska) and Cheryl Weaver (Long Beach State) on the list of nominees for this year's award.
Tom, who hails from Salt Lake City, Utah, led Stanford to its NCAA-record fifth national title this month with a 3-0 win over No. 1 Long Beach State. Tom, a three-time first-team All-American, was tabbed 2001 AVCA National Player of the Year in addition to being named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
The 6-1 outside hitter was a member of the U.S. National Team that finished fourth in the Sydney Olympics and was named Pac-10 Player of the Year last month.
