No. 6 Stanford Blasts Arizona, 81-57

TUCSON (AP) - Kelley Suminski scored a career-high 24 points and No. 6 Stanford used excellent 3-point shooting to beat Arizona 81-57 Wednesday night.

The Cardinal (9-1) made 11 of 18 3-point attempts to win the Pacific-10 opener for both teams. Lindsey Yamasaki added 18 points for Stanford.

Arizona (4-5) led by five points in the first half before the Cardinal went on an 18-2 run, led by Suminski's 10 points. Suminski and Nicole Powell each had a pair of 3-pointers in the burst.

Dee-Dee Wheeler made a pair of 3-pointers to pull the Wildcats within 54-46 with 7:30 left, Powell halted the brief run with Stanford's 10th 3-pointer of the game.

Arizona shot 7-of-25 on 3-pointers. Elizabeth Pickney had points and LaKeisha Taylor 12.
