EUGENE, Ore. - Freshman Andrea Bills scored 13 points to help the University of Oregon women's basketball team to a 76-47 victory Sunday afternoon over Washington State before 4,298 fans at McArthur Court.
The Ducks, who have won six of their last eight games, improved their record to 8-5 and 3-1 in Pac-10 play. The Cougars dropped to 2-11, 0-3.
'We have to play physical,' first-year Oregon coach Bev Smith said. 'We wanted to front their post players and that takes a lot of energy. These young ladies are very motivated and very committed.'
Oregon, which didn't trail the entire game, jumped out to a 17-7 lead at the 11:42 mark behind points from six different Ducks. All but one Oregon player scored in the game.
Senior post player Alyssa Fredrick had all 12 of her points in the first half as Oregon led 43-23 at the break as the Cougars made just 5-of-23 from the field for 22 percent. Bills, meanwhile, dropped in 12 second-half points and finished hitting 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the foul line in 18 minutes.
