Jan. 7, 2002
STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford University sophomore point guard Susan King (Richfield, MN/Academy of Holy Angels) will miss the remainder of the 2001-02 women's basketball season with a stretched anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee. The season-ending injury will qualify King for an NCAA medical hardship.
King suffered the injury on Wednesday, December 19 against Arizona. The game was just King's second of the season, as she missed the first nine contests after undergoing a scope to clean out the right knee. In those two games (Tennessee and Arizona), King averaged 3.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
As a freshman, King averaged 11.3 points, 5.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds in nine contests. She missed the final 21 games of the season with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament suffered on December 27, 2000 at Oklahoma.
