Ryan McCann To Transfer to UT-Chattanooga
Jan. 10, 2002
Junior quarterback Ryan McCann will transfer to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, UCLA announced today. He was granted his release by head coach Bob Toledo last Friday (Jan. 4) and had been speaking with schools since that time. He reached a decision this morning and will leave for school this weekend.
By selecting a school that plays Division I-AA football, McCann does not have to sit out a year and will be eligible to play during the 2002 season. He has one year of eligibility remaining and one year in which to use it.
'We certainly understand Ryan's desire to play a significant role during his senior season,' said Toledo. 'I spoke with some coaches about Ryan at the recent AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) convention. He is a fine young man and we certainly wish him the best of luck.'
'I've had some great highlights at UCLA and I'm going to miss my teammates and the coaches,' said McCann. 'However, I have only one season remaining and I am anxious to be a starting quarterback and this seems like my best alternative.'
