WHAT'S ON TAP . . . 'Deranged Idiots' and Tall Firs reunite as McArthur Court celebrates its 75th birthday when the Oregon 'Webfoots' host the Willamette Bearcats on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played exactly 75 years and one day after Oregon and Willamette played the very first contest at the venerable facility on Jan. 14, 1927. It is expected to be the highest-attended non-conference game of the season. Mac Court is now the oldest Division I basketball facility in the nation. Around 50 former Oregon lettermen are expected to be in attendance Tuesday night, including Ret. Navy Adm. John Dick, who was the leading scorer in the 1939 NCAA Championship game, which the Tall Firs won 46-33. Former UCLA coach Gene Bartow -- he of the infamous 'deranged idiots' quote -- is not expected to attend.
