Jan. 16, 2002
Welcome to ESPN.com's moderated chat room. On Friday, Stanford men's basketball player, Josh Childress, hits chat to talk about the Cardinal's season.
Childress, a 6-8 freshman from Lakewood, Calif., was only the second freshman to start his first collegiate game during head coach Mike Montgomery's 16-year tenure on the Farm. He has scored in double figures in seven games this season, including a season-high 21 points against Purdue. Childress is averaging 9.6 points per game (ranks seventh all-time at Stanford among freshmen) and his 4.8 rebounds is second best on the squad behind center Curtis Borchardt.
One of the top high school recruits in the country, Childress can create his shot off the dribble and has deep range (has 14 three-pointers in 13 games for the Cardinal). He was a McDonald's High School All-American and during his senior season, helped his team to the state playoffs, averaging 24 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks per game for Mayfield High School.
The Cardinal are next in action against Washington on Saturday night (7 p.m. PT at Maples Pavilion) in continued conference play.
Childress won't hit chat until Friday at 4 p.m. PT. Feel free to drophim some questions now and we'll save them for his arrival.
