No. 7 Cal Men's Swimming Wins The Dallas Morning News Invitational

DALLAS, TX - The No. 7 ranked University of California men's swimming and diving team, led by meet MVP Alex Lim, captured The Dallas Morning News Invitational Jan. 18-19 in Dallas, Tex.
The Bears won the meet with 328 points, followed by Tennessee (292), host SMU (279), Florida (275), Texas A&M (261) and Auburn (227). Sophomore Lim paced Cal by winning the 100 back (47.62 meet record and pool record), 200 back (1:45.02) and the 200 fly (1:46.16).
Additional individual winners for Cal included junior Olympian Anthony Ervin, who won both the 50 free (19.46 NCAA qualifying) and the 100 free (43.29 NCAA qualifying, pool record), and senior Matthias Ohlin, who won the 100 fly (49.03).
In the relays, the Bears dominated the meet by winning the 400 free relay (meet record 2:56.09 freshman Duje Draganja, Ervin, senior Matt Macedo, senior Bayani Flores), 200 free relay (meet record 1:19.86, Draganja, Ervin, Macedo, Ohlin) and the 800 free relay (meet record 6:36.24 junior Joe Bruckart, Flores, Ohlin, Macedo).
Other top finishes for Cal was Bruckart placing second in the 200 free (1:38.75) and Flores placing second in the 200 IM (1:49.87). Senior Peter Aronsson was third in the 200 breast (2:02.58), fourth in the 400 IM (3:59.40) and fifth in the 100 breast (57.02). Ohlin placed fourth in the 500 free (4:32.34).
In the diving competition, junior Nicolas Bartolotta finished third in the three-meter competition (317.70 NCAA qualifying) and fifth in the one-meter competition (268.05).
The Bears will next host Arizona State, Friday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex, and Arizona, Saturday, Jan. 26 at noon at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
