Baseball Alumni Game Cancelled

Jan. 22, 2002

LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball team will not hold its Alumni Game this year, due to construction at Dedeaux Field. The Trojans will open the 2002 season on Friday, Feb. 8 against Long Beach State at Blair Field at 6:05 p.m. USC is ranked No. 3 in the preseason by USA Today Baseball Weekly and No. 4 by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.

The Trojans will play their first 22 games on the road (the Feb. 15-17 series vs. Baylor will be played at Dodger Stadium) as construction continues at Dedeaux Field. The $4 million project will be completed before the Trojans' first game on Saturday, March 23 as USC plays Stanford in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
