On Wednesday, Stanford sophomore standout Nicole Powell hits the chat room to talk about the Cardinal's No. 3 national ranking and 18-1 start.
In just a year-and-a-half, Powell has proven herself to be one of the best women's basketball players to ever wear the Stanford jersey. Powell, who is one of 30candidates for Naismith College Women's Basketball Player of the Year honors, is averaging a double-double of 15.4 points and 10.1 rebounds this season while alsoleading the Cardinal in assists per game at 5.6. Two weeks ago (Jan. 13), the Phoenix, Arizona native broke the 24-year old Stanford single game rebound recordwhen she pulled down 21 against Oregon.
For her career, Powell is averaging 14.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists. She ranked first in Stanford history and seventh in Pac-10 history in career reboundsper game and is also fourth in school history in career points per game. In 49 career games, Powell has recorded 16 doubles-doubles and three triple-doubles.
Stanford looks to build on its two-and-a-half game Pacific-10 Conference lead this weekend when it hosts Arizona and Arizona State at Maples Pavilion.
