Jan. 26, 2002
The East Valley Tribune incorrectly reported the annual ASU Baseball Alumni game was to be played at Hohokam Park. The actual site, as released on Monday and in all schedules, is Packard Stadium.
This year's alumni weekend will also pay special tribute to the 1977 NCAA Championship team that recorded a 57-12 record and featured eventual major league players Bob Horner, Chris Bando, Hubie Brooks, Rick Peters and Jamie Allen.
Former Sun Devils who highlight the list of players returning for the ASU Baseball Alumni Weekend include legendary head coach Bobby Winkles, current Los Angeles Dodger Paul Lo Duca, former major leaguers Horner, Brooks, Ken Phelps, Sterling Slaughter, Jim Otten, Eddie Bane, Duffy Dyer, and Floyd Bannister, current Seattle Mariner prospect Willie Bloomquist and recent top draft picks Jon Switzer, Ryan Bradley and Dan McKinley. Also participating will be the father/son duo of Clint and Casey Myers, Mike Lopez, Dave Graybill, Greg Cochran, Jim Armstrong, Brooks Conrad, Eric Doble, Danny Ikeda, Bert Martinez, Blas Minor, Mikel Moreno and Michael Collins.
Included in this year's events is a book signing for The Maroon & Gold: a History of Sun Devil Athletics with author Bob Eger and legendary former ASU Baseball coaches Bobby Winkles and Bill Kajikawa. The book signing will run from 1 p.m. up to first pitch of the alumni weekend.
