Women's Soccer Squad Earns Soccer Buzz Accolades

Jan. 29, 2002

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University's women's soccer squad has been named one of the most improved Division I soccer programs in the nation, according to Soccer Buzz Magazine.

Using the NCAA Standard for calculating a team's change in record from the previous season, Soccer Buzz has configured that Oregon State ranks in a tie for 20th with a 4.5-game improvement over the 2000-2001 seasons.

The Beavers recorded their best finish since the 1995 season with a 10-8-2 overall record in 2001, just missing a postseason berth. OSU finished the 2000 campaign with a 6-13-2 overall record.

Oregon State loses just one senior off the 2001 squad and returns a trio of All-Pac-10 honorees - Mandy Melendez, Katie Henderson and Morgan Crabtree - to lead the team into the 2002 campaign.
