The victory snapped a 12-game WSU overall losing streak and a 12-game Pac-10Conference losing streak as well.
The Cougars (5-14, 1-10 Pac-10), shot just 39 percent in the first half. Butthey shot 50 percent in the second half and were 14 of 19 from the free throwline. Washington State also outrebounded Washington 40-35.
Doug Wrenn led Washington (8-13, 2-9) with a career-high 34 points. DavidDixon tied a school record with seven blocked shots.
The Cougars trailed for much of the game and for the entire second halfuntil Moore's runner in the lane with 5:44 remaining put the Cougars up 68-66.
The two teams traded baskets the rest of the game.
Washington had a final chance to send the game into overtime, when Moorefouled Will Conroy behind the 3-point line with .3 seconds remaining.
But Conroy missed his final two free throws and the Huskies were unable toget a put-back basket as time expired.
