Feb. 1, 2002
MESA, Ariz. -- The Oregon State Beavers overcame a three-run deficit in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game at 7-7 and then added three in the top of the 10th to defeat Oral Roberts 10-9 on the second day of the inaugural Bill Kajikawa Baseball Classic held Friday at Hohokam Stadium.
After taking the lead in the top of the 10th, the Beavers held off a late comeback by the Golden Eagles to hold on for the 10-9 win. The final out of the game was recorded on a groundball to shortstop to strand the bases loaded.

The Beavers were led by left fielder Seth Pietsch (2x4, 3 R) and Andy Jarvis (2x4, 2 RBI) at the plate. Eric Thornton paced the way for ORU with three hits.
Oregon State jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after one inning, scoring all three of its runs in the opening frame with two outs. Junior third baseman Brian Barden continued his torrid hitting, clubbing his second home run in as many days. Junior first baseman Andy Jarvis brought home two more runs with a sharp single to center field.
With the score tied at four in the bottom of the fourth, sophomore catcher David Castillo broke open the game with a bases loaded double to give ORU the 7-4 lead.
