Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 Match At UCLA

WESTWOOD, Calif. - Facing its first test of the 2002 campaign, the 12th-ranked USC men's tennis (2-1) team fell to third-ranked UCLA, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

After sweeping all three doubles matches, UCLA (4-0) dropped just one set in singles play, cruising to straight-set victories on five of six courts.

The matches were close on the back three courts as Nick Rainey pushed UCLA's Marcin Matkowski to three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, at No. 4 singles.

USC will travel to Louisville this week to face the Cardinals on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m., before competing at the ITA Indoor Championships, Feb. 7-11, in Kentucky.
