No. 15 Bruins Dominate No. 7 USC, 5-2

Los Angeles - In a match that is sure to move them up in the rankings, the No. 15 UCLA women's tennis team handily beat No. 7 USC, 5-2 Friday afternoon at the Mark's Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC.
After UCLA won two of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point, the Bruins were equally impressive in singles play, winning four of six matches. UCLA dominated the top-3 singles positions, registering straight-set victories on all three courts. UCLA No. 1 Megan Bradley rolled in the top spot, downing Jewel Peterson, 6-2, 6-4. Sara Walker defeated Luana Magnani, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Petya Marinova dispatched of Anita Loyola, 6-4, 7-6 in the No. 3 slot.
The Nos. 4-6 singles matches on the other hand were all close. The Women of Troy claimed their two points on the at in the Nos. 4 and 5 positions, as Maureen Diaz defeated UCLA's Sarah Gregg, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Tiffany Brymer edged Bruin Lauren Fisher, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 5 slot.
With the Bruins ahead 4-2 and the match already in hand, Bruin senior Catherine Hawley capped off the day for UCLA, registering a 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory over Bernadette Bayani in the No. 6 position.
The Bruins will have a week off before hosting Fresno State on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
