Women's Swimming, Diving Edged By No. 1 Stanford

Senior Katie Meyer, junior Jennifer Parmenter and freshman Blythe Hartley all posted wins against Stanford, but it wasn't enough against the top-ranked Cardinal as No. 10 USC (4-4) fell, 167-133 at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium on Saturday (Feb. 2).
Meyer won the 100y back in 56.37 while Parmenter won the 50y free in 23.67. Troy actually finished 1-2-3 in the 100y back as freshmen Joanna Fargus (56.56) and Marisa Kozak (57.82) took second and third.
Stanford, which won 12 events, was paced by Shelly Ripple and Lacey Boutwell, who won three events apiece. Ripple won the 200y fly (1:56.92), 200y back (1:58.99) and the 400y IM (4:17.01) while Boutwell took first in the 100y free (49.38), 200y free (1:48.19) and the 100y fly (53.82). The Cardinal also won both the 400y free relay and the 400y medley relay.
USC senior Kristin MacGregor took second in both the 100y breast (1:02.27) and the 100y free (51.41) while junior Michala Kwasny was second in the 200y fly (2:02.44) and the 400y IM (4:24.45). Junior Asa Sandlund was second in both the 500y free (4:52.16) and the 1650y free (16:42.38).
