No. 4 Cal Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats No. 8 USC, 167-131

LOS ANGELES, CA - The No. 4 ranked California men's swimming and diving team (6-1, 3-0) defeated No. 8 ranked USC, 167-131, Friday afternoon at McDonald's Swim Stadium in Los Angeles. The Bears captured 10 of the meet's 16 events, including winning both the 200 medley and 400 free relays, and both diving competitions.
Individuals winners for the Bears included senior Mattias Ohlin in the 100 back (49.13), junior Daniel Kim in the 100 breast (55.53), freshman Duje Draganja in the 50 free (20.25), junior Anthony Ervin in the 100 free (44.10), sophomore Alex Lim in the 200 back (1:45.72) and senior Peter Aronsson in the 200 breast (2:01.51).
Cal also won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.05 (sophomore Jeff Natalizio, Kim, Ohlin, junior Trent Holsman) and the 400 free relay with a time of 2:56.78 (junior Joe Bruckart, Ohlin, Draganja, Ervin).
Another highlight for the Bears was going 1-2-3 in both the one and three-meter diving competition. Sophomore Robbie Quinn won both the one-meter (291.89) and three-meter titles (301.05), while freshman Nathaniel Dean placed second in the one-meter (249.90) and three-meter (227.78). Freshman Richard Rech was third in the one-meter (240.30) and the three-meter (265.25) competition..
Cal will next travel to Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at Avery Aquatics Complex. For complete meet results check the USC website at www.usctrojans.com.
