Volleyball Awards Announced

PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State women's volleyball awards for the 2001 season were handed out at the team's banquet Friday night at the Pullman Holiday Inn Express.
Senior setter Kali Surplus was selected by her teammates as the most valuable player and freshman redshirt Kristin Purscelley took home the most improved award. Best offensive player went to junior Adrian Hankoff while junior Kortney Jamtaas won the best defensive player honors.
The top academic award went to junior Zanda Bautre and senior Kerry Lewis' work in the weight room earned her the top award from the strength and conditioning coaches.
The WSU volleyball team finished 17-12 last fall and made its eighth appearance in the NCAA tournament.
