WOMEN'S TENNIS BATTLE TOUGH DESPITE 5-2 LOSS OVER SAN DIEGO STATE

EUGENE, Ore. - San Diego State ended the Ducks winning streak today while defeating Oregon 5-2. The Ducks suffered its first dual match loss of the season in San Diego, California. The Ducks battled hard despite tough loss.

The Ducks were led by Junior Monika Gieczys defeating Katey Becker of San Diego State 6-1, 6-3 in singles. Oregon also got strong play from Senior Vickie Gunnarrson defeating Julie Chidley 6-2, 6-1. Despite losing two doubles matches, the Ducks won the No. 1 spot played by Davina Menidburu and Courtney Nagle beating Silvia Tornier and Lindsey Hedberg 8-3.

'We were happy to win two out of three on the road,' sixth year Oregon coach Jack Griffin said after the loss to San Diego State.

The Ducks will back in action at home when they host Arizona State on Saturday Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. and then Arizona on Sunday Feb. 17 at 12 p.m.
