Women's Soccer's Amy Sauer Selected In 2002 WUSA Draft

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Stanford senior Amy Sauer (Spring, TX) was selected in the 2002 Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) Draft held Monday at the Sunrise Hilton Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Sauer, a Third Team All-American, was taken in the second round (12th overall selection) by the San Diego Spirit.

Sauer also earned First Team West Region All-American honors and First Team Pac-10 accolades. She played every match of her career and started all but one, holding the all-time school record with 83 matches played. Sauer also tied former Cardinal Jessica Fischer (1992-95) with 82 games started.

Santa Clara defender Danielle Slaton was the first overall pick in Monday's Draft, selected by the Carolina Courage.
