Women's Golf Moves Up to Third After Second Round at TRW Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Arizona State women's golf team shot an eight-over par 295 Tuesday to move up to third place after the second round of the TRW Regional Challenge. The 54-hole event is being held Mon.-Wed., Feb. 11-13 at the par 71, 5,291-yard Palos Verdes Country Club.
Led by first-year head coach Mickey Yokoi, the 10th-ranked Sun Devils are just two strokes behind second-place Texas with a two-day total of 599. Tulsa leads the field after two rounds at seven-over 575, while Texas (594), ASU (599), Arizona (601), Oklahoma State (604) and Wake Forest (604) round out the top five.
For the Sun Devils, junior Gaï¿½lle Truet (73-74) and sophomore Jimin Kang (74-73) are each tied for 11th with two-day totals of 145. Sophomore Blair O'Neal moved up 25 spots to 26th with a two-over 73 on Tuesday and a two-day total of 152 (79-73). Freshman Erin Tone (81-75=156) and junior Melanie Hunt (78-85=163) are tied for 49th and 82nd, respectively.
Individually, Arizona's Lorena Ochoa took over the lead after firing a five-under 66 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 138 (72-66).
