Jeanette Antolin Rejoins Bruin Gymnastics Team
Feb. 14, 2002
Sophomore Jeanette Antolin (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina HS) has rejoined the UCLA gymnastics team. Antolin, who was not on the squad at the beginning of the school year, has met criteria set by UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field for reinstatement to the team.
Last season, Antolin competed primarily on vault, averaging 9.798 in 10 meets. She recorded collegiate-best scores of 9.9 on vault, 9.85 on bars and beam and 9.925 on floor. Her all-around high was a 39.05. Antolin is a five-time U.S. National Team member who competed at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials.
'One of the best parts of my job is to see young adults mature and see that life is all about a choice,' said Kondos Field. 'It's exciting to see someone like Jeanette, who has so much life and energy, put that energy into a direction that brings about positives.'
Antolin, who has been training on her own during the past five months, could see action this Sunday at Cal when the Bruins take on the Golden Bears, UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis.
