Men's Golf Finished Tied For 11th At Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate

Waikoloa, Hawai'i - The Stanford men's golf team stood in second place heading into today's final round of the 12th Annual Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate, but shot a tournament-low round of 314 to finish tied for 11th place. Georgia Tech took home the team title (860), followed by Oklahoma (868), Arkansas (875), Fresno State (875) and Nevada (875). The Cardinal finished with a team total of 887 (285-288-314) for the tournament.
Senior Philip Rowe (Cornwall, UK) shot a disappointing final round of 79, to finish tied for seventh. Rowe finished the tournament with a 215 (69-67-79), tying TCU's Andy Doeden.
Blake Mastalir (Englewood, CO) tied for 37th (72-74-76), while teammate Kevin Blue (Toronto, Ont.) tied for 50th (69-74-81). Jim Seki (Honolulu, HI) and Pat Phillips (Athens, GA) placed tied for 68th and 87th, respectively, for the Cardinal.
Troy Matteson of Georgia Tech won the individual title with a three-round score of 210 (67-70-71). Fresno State's Nick Watney finished one stroke behind with a tournament total of 211.
The Cardinal will have the rest of the month off from competition and will pick things up on March 4th and 5th when they travel to Westlake Village, Calif., to compete in the Southwestern Intercollegiate Invitational.
