Softball Upends Louisville, 6-2

TUCSON--Arizona used two long balls to generate enough offense and JennyGladding scattered three hits to help the Wildcats beat Louisville, 6-2, inUA's first game of its Pepsi Arizona Softball Classic.
Leneah Manuma hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning overa 40-foot parapet wall on Gittings Gym some 40 beyond the fence inright-center field, about 250 feet from home plate, to give UA (8-2) a 3-0lead. Lovie Jung opened the game with a double and Mackenzie Vandergeestwalked with one out to set up Manuma's blast.
Melissa Jacobo hit a two-out two-run home run off UA's Jenny Gladding(3-2) in the bottom of the inning to cut into the lead. It was Jacobo'ssecond homer on the day and the fifth Gladding had surrendered in her lastthree appearances.
Courtney Fossatti singled in a run with an opposite-field slap single inthe second and Jennie Finch hit a solo home run in the third to extend UA'slead to 5-2. Crystal Farley and AllysonVon Liechtenstein opened the sixthwith singles and Farley later scored on Jung's single down the left-fieldline to complete UA's scoring.
The Cats managed nine hits off Louisville (1-5) pitcher Krystle Herold,whose record dropped to 0-3.
