Calderon's Double Lifts Cardinals Over Irish

TUCSON--Louisville Keola Calderon's three-run double broke up a 1-1 tieand gave the Cardinals (2-6) the runs they needed in a 4-3 victory over No.14-ranked Notre Dame (1-2) in Saturday action at the Pepsi Arizona SoftballClassic.
The Irish scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning and had thetying run at second base but runner Jenny Kriech was thrown out at third byrightfielder Calderon after stealing second and trying for the extra baseafter the catcher's throw got away.
Melissa Jacobo's third home run in as many games gave Louisville a 1-0lead in the top of the fourth.
Notre Dame tied it up in the next at-bat. Megan Ciolli singled, stolesecond and reached third on the catcher's wide throw to second. She scoredon Andria Bledsoe's ground-out RBI.
Louisville concludes play in the tournament Sunday against Auburn. NotreDame was to play New Mexico State later Saturday afternoon and finishesplay against South Florida in the round-robin tourney on Sunday.
