Stanford, CALIF. - Stanford (10-8, 3-4 Pac-10) finished the regular season tonight with a 28-9 win over the Portland State Vikings at the Ford Center. The Cardinal fell behind the Vikings early, down 9-3 after the 197 match, but rallied in the next two bouts to tie the score and then finished off Portland State with four more wins. Sophomore Nathan Peterson (Georgetown, IN/Floyd Central) recorded a 6-1 decision to tie the meet at nine apiece. Junior Justin Walker (Otis Orchards, WA/East Valley) then posted a major decision at 133 to give the Cardinal the lead. After a forfeit at 141, Gentry, ranked second in the Pac-10 at 149, pinned Casey Banks for his 16th dual win of the season to secure the Cardinal victory.
